Microsoft Visual Keyboard, provided with Windows, is a text processing help software. Operating system : Windows only (2000, Me, XP) (No scanning with Me) You can find it in the start menu, programs, accessories, accessibility, visual keyboard. If it doesn’t appear in this menu, go to “execute” and type “osk.exe”. Functions : Cells content : letters, functions (adjustable font) Typing mode : click, self click and scanning. Scanning : only with Windows 2000 and XP The scanning speed is adjustable. The selection can be done with a keyboard touch or the mouse, but not with a switch. The scanning moves by row, then by cell from right to left (or by group, which is faster). A click sound can be associated to the validation of the keys. Advantages : Supplied with Windows. Easy to use. Provides access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and it stays on top of the desktop when other applications are launched. Disadvantages : The keyboard is not configurable. No picture nor symbol. The scanning cannot be used with a switch. No word prediction. The size of the keyboard cannot be modified (and doesn't comply with visual impairments).
