Clavicom

 Clavicom is a text processing help software.

Operating system : Windows only (95 to XP)

Functions  :

Input device : pointing device, switch(es)

Cells content : letters, functions. (adjustable font)

Typing mode : click, self click, scanning

Scanning : it is automatic. It moves by row, then by cell (or by group, which is faster). The left button of the mouse can be deviated toward a switch.

Word prediction : when typing the first letter of a word, it shows a list of 5 words beginning with this letter. Any new word can be added to the dictionary, but this addition is not automatic.

Advantages  :

Easy to use.

Provides access to other applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, …)

It is possible to keep the keyboard on the foreground of the desktop when other applications are launched.

Word prediction.

Rather fast scanning.

For people with visual impairment, the keyboard size is adjustable.

Disadvantages  :

The keyboard is not configurable.

New word addition is not automatic : you have to open the dictionary box in the tool bar.

When using the scanning mode, the menu bar of Clavicom cannot be reached. The computer can be controled from Clavicom.

In the scanning mode, the mouse is free on the screen, which may disturb people with poorly controlled movements.

In Internet Explorer and Firefox, you cannot type in the address bar.

The @ and € keys do not work in Word.
