Click-N-Type

 Click-N-Type is a text processing help software.

Operating system: Windows only (95 to XP)

Functions  :

Cells content : letters, numbers, functions

Typing mode : click, self click or scanning

Scanning : it is automatic (there isn’t any manual scanning). The screen is divided into 6 groups. 3 validations are needed to select a cell :

• first validation : choice of the group then an horizontal line goes through the screen from the top to the bottom.

• second validation : choice of the row , then a vertical line goes from left to right.

• Third validation : choice of the cell.

The speed is adjustable.

In this mode, the pointer stays in the keyboard window, which is a security for the user. To get out the window, just press “esc”

Word prediction : When typing the first letter(s) of a word (you choose how many), it shows a list of 8 words. New words can be automatically added to the dictionary (it is dynamic). It is possible to scan the list of the dictionary. Macros : It is possible to create basic keyboard shortcuts and to create simple macros.

Programming  :

Grid programming is rather simple:

• Selection of a cell from a grid containing all the standard cells

• Choice of the place of this cell in an empty grid, and choice of its size

The creation of all the cells works this way, until you get the keyboard you want. The keyboard may be adjusted thanks to a function that lines up the selected cells.

5 grids are provided : it is possible to personalize their alphabet just changing the order of the letter cells

Disadvantages  :

The design is not very nice.

The scanning doesn’t reach the tool bar (so the edition is not accessible)

Word addition is not possible in the scanning mode.

In the scanning mode, the mouse cannot get out the keyboard window which is a security. But to free it, you have to press the “esc” key and it doesn’t work on the virtual keyboard : the use of the physical keyboard is necessary.
