Wivik 3.1

 Wivik is a text processing help software: it gives access to the macros via the virtual keyboard which simplifies the use of some applications.

System requirements  :

Operating system : Windows only (95 to XP)

64 MB of RAM (128 recommended)

Functions  :

Typing mode : click, self click or scanning.

Scanning : it moves by row then by column (or column then row), by quadrant or by cell.

Cells content : cells may contain letters, and also basic functions, standard macros (shift, control, alt, capslock, num, …), Wivik shortcuts (such as back to the previous page, word prediction, …), actions (activate double click, scanning, …)

Word prediction : The predicted words can be shown as most frequently used words, most recently used words or alphabetically. Any new word is automatically added to the dictionary. It can anticipate the next word.

Abbreviation/ Extension : it reduces the number of letters to type to write something. The user can create or modify words abbreviations which, once typed, expand into whole words or sentences (ex : “CU” for “See you soon”.)

Programming  :

Keyboard creation is long and complex : it needs a learning and computer programming knowledge. However it gives interesting possibilities : it is possible to use the provided keyboards and insert one’s own keys or create links towards other keyboards.

Advantages  :

The macro creation offers many possibilities.

You can connect up to 5 switches at a time and choose the function of each of them (it needs an optional connection box).

Many scanning options

Provides access to all the application using text, and is a useful help after programming.

Dynamic prediction and abbreviation/extension.

In scanning mode, it gives total access to the computer, with the menu (and start menu) scanning. It also provides the control of the mouse.

Speech system (optionnal) : it allows an audio feed back of the typed letters/ words. It can also read texts in any text processing application or in Internet explorer.

Disadvantages  :

Programming is long and complex. It needs learning time. If you don’t have any computer programming knowledge, you’d better use one of the (numerous) provided keyboards.

In the scanning mode or the self click mode, you cannot reach the Wivik menu.

The mouse use in the scanning mode is rather difficult.

It needs an optional connection box to use the switches.
