IMC 2000

This is a communication assistant for people with poor langage or dumb. The communication uses pictures.

System requirement  :

Operating system : Windows 95 to XP

16 Mo RAM, and a CD reader

Sound card if the speech system is used

USB port

Functions  :

Cells content : words, symbols or pictures, sounds, or all of them.

Typing mode : click, self-click, scan (manual or automatic)

Scanning mode :

         Manual : can be used with several switches (4 directions and 1 for the validation) or with a single one (each click allows to jump to the next cell and a longer pression validates)

         Automatic : scans cell by cell or line by line then cell by cell.

Speech system  : you can use Wav files. The I.M.C speech system (optional) leaves the choice between a male or a female voice.

Edition  :

IMC allows to create an individual file for each user. Indeed, the user makes an identity file with a picture.

The grid edition is easy. You choose the number of pictures (4 to 30) on the first page. Then  you associate a function to each cell.

         Communication function : display of a pictogram or a picture, display of a sentence, use of the speech system or of a saved sound. The three communication functions can be used together. Moreover it is possible to import graphic files or pictures : the software resizes the picture so that it fits the cell (but when you scan a picture, it is necessary to keep the 4:3 format not to deform the image.

         Navigation function : it allows to move through the different pages (link toward another grid), and to navigate on IMC 2000 and on the computer (you can run directly any application : Internet, Word, Paint, games, …).

When a cell is created, it can be copied on another one by choosing “existing picto” in the editing menu of the cell.

Advantages  :

Easy use and edition.

It may be a good learning of a language (vocabulary, structure)

It has communication codes (Grach, Gicquiaud) and many pictures and photos.

It is possible to insert the user’s own pictures and sounds.

Quick access to the other applications of the computer.

Disadvantages  :

There isn’t the macro function.

The edition menu can only be reach with the F2 key (it is not possible to create a cell “edition menu” in the grid)

The speech system is optional.

You cannot write in other applications.
